Coby MP-C640

This fuckin thing is great, except that it died on Kuja once while Kuja owned it. This thing required NO special software other than a driver which made Windows see two drives, one for the external SD card and one for the internal 128 meg of RAM.

How did it die you ask? Well one day after turning it on, the damn thing decides to play my mp3's very faintly, meaning Kuja was barely able to hear this thing even when the volume was turned up all the way. That pissed me off to no end! I was so pissed I had to take this thing back to Frys and try another one. LOL overall the thing sucks and it is not recommended.

Ohh yeah and one more thing the port for the ear jack is on the side???? ?Kuja dislikes this tremendously it should be on the top.

One last thing too, the damn SD card is in the wrong place too, on the top, I mean come on who puts it there, it makes it easy for you to accidentally eject the fuckin thing.

Honestly, it seems that this product needs some work on stability. I would stear clear of the model unless you intend to just "try" it out and return it.

This is a great device when it works but the fact that the device would not play MP3's correctly really upset us.

Returned after 2nd replacement and gave up!

Interface: The software we used for this device was Windows Media - we thought compared to the Coby MP-C640 this was rather cumbersome. In short, going from that device (Coby MP-C640) this interface sucks.

Unit itself: Well its MUCH easier to "jog" to each mp3 song rather back and forth. That part is nice. I like the "jog" button as it helps with usability. Pretty much this unit it cool b/c its very easy to take to the gym, what sucks you ask? Yeah well that’s easy, get ready to buy some sort of carrying case b/c the carrying case you get with it requires a belt, who wears a belt to the gym? What the hell? Anyway the display is also a little small, it recognized the SD card right away and the SD card is nice and tucked away so you cannot accidentally eject it. The unit itself is great, the interface software the fact you have to use software SUCKS ASS.

Well this device is nice and easy to use, and for the guy, who does not care about having to use software for an interface, there is no problem, however this is a BIG deal for us here and we feel like being MADE to do anything is not a good thing. So, we are going to rate this a little lower, again if this is is OK for you then by all means this device is great!@!!!!. Be careful though of how you deal with the unit, you can change songs inadvertently if you are not careful.

Returned after 29 days, so overall not so bad but the Windows Media Player got OLD.

Well how does Kuja this one ? This freaking thing is ok, however its heavy and for what I wanted its not agreeable. Kuja wanted portability and this is NOT it. In addition look at it, the fuckin thing is huge and there is only that little screen, these days... please just put a HUGE screen there and make it nice and big. No reason you have to make it that small.

Ohh yeah interface, they make you use their software, which Kuja understands but come on :P Kuja wants to just go to Windows explorer and copy all my damn files not pick and choose... just copy. Not sure why this would be so hard with a Large drive like this.

Hard drive units are OK but think about it, 20gigs of space? Man you going to be able to find your song? OK, so you find it by putting everything in a nice "genre" folder or something. Come on who has time for that? Seriously... not me... OK so all that said... it’s not desirable.

Overall I would think that this is OK for its size, however it not necessarily something that the average traveler is going to want as the weight of the unit is a factor. Take that into consideration.

  Returned after 4 days.
